I Remember Daniel - 200th Anniversary

“I remember Daniel!”

Daniel Boone
1734-1820

2020 is the 200th anniversary of the passing of America’s pioneer hero Daniel Boone. His life is celebrated and commemorated at sites across the eastern United States through markers, monuments, plaques, statues, historic homes and replica forts. His footprints touched upon what are now 11 states from Pennsylvania to Missouri and from Michigan to Florida (yes, Florida).

Add your name to the written memorial
On this special anniversary of the passing of this American hero, his life looms large in history and continues to give us all a window on America’s early pioneer history. Had the pandemic not interrupted our plans, each of these sites and more would have welcomed visitors with special programming and special events to help celebrate the life and times of Daniel Boone. As our regard remains steadfast, in lieu of those events, each of the sites listed here is sending a written memorial or greetings of their own design to the Daniel Boone Home in Defiance, Missouri, to commemorate the passing of Daniel Boone there on September 26, 1820. Some of the sites are inviting their patrons to join in the commemoration by adding their names to the memorials. Some are sending greetings from their organization only. Check with any of the Daniel Boone heritage organizations listed here to see about adding your name to their memorial and, most importantly, supporting their efforts to preserve, promote, and interpret the pioneer history of America, especially as we find ourselves on the cusp of the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution. Huzzah!
