"Unseen Troubles" by Marcia J. Wick
– Nothing would deter us from enjoying our well-earned evening out.

Author’s Talk
Marcia J. Wick with Bowser
Hello, fellow readers and writers. My name is Marcia Wick, and I live in Colorado Springs, Colorado. I am a blind, gray-haired grandmother, retired from a professional writing career. I earned my degree in journalism back in the day when newspapers landed with a thump each morning on most people’s porch. I worked as a reporter in a small town before segueing into corporate communications. I also operated my own desktop publishing business for about 10 years. As my vision loss due to Retinitis Pigmentosa progressed, I transitioned into freelance writing. These days, I write personal essays about parenting, caregiving, and living with a disability. I use a screen reader to read and write on my laptop. I also enjoy reading audible books. Recently, I joined a group for writers with disabilities called Behind Our Eyes (BOE). Most of the writers are blind or vision impaired. Behind Our Eyes publishes a quarterly online magazine called Magnets and Ladders with contests for poetry, fiction, and nonfiction covering a wide range of topics. The organization also recently published its third anthology called “A Literary Sunburst.” In addition to reading and writing every day, I walk two to three miles with my guide dog, Bowser, I swim, and I knit on a loom. I also volunteer in the community and enjoy spending time with family and friends. I have two adult daughters and two grandchildren who keep me young at heart. —Marci J. Wick
