Surprised and trapped in their North Carolina mountain home by a harsh and threatening late-winter blizzard, a couple struggles to survive and to care for their horses, thankful for any good turn of fate to befall them throughout their ordeal.

Beth Bixby Davis was born in Northern New York and moved to the Asheville area of North Carolina in the mid-1960s where she reared her family, raised Arabian horses, and had a 30-year career in nursing. Enjoying a long-time hobby of writing essays and poetry, she recently took a class in flash fiction. She belongs to Talespinners Writers Group.
