"Remembering Daniel in bronze and stone--a century-old Winston-Salem passion."

During National Preservation Month, we will look at two figures from Winston-Salem's own history who worked 100 years ago to preserve and enshrine the legacy of an American hero.  Lucy Patterson, for whom Patterson Ave. is named, and Hampton Rich each mounted separate, remarkable efforts to erect monuments and markers to celebrate the life of Daniel Boone. Remnants of their efforts remain in communities all across the nation.
