The 1917 monument is on the southeast corner of CBD Loop and D St. (Bus US 421) one block north of the Wilkes County Public Library. 

Public gathering to recognize the 100th anniversary of the dedication of the Boone Trail Memorial Highway Association monument in North Wilkesboro on October 27, 1917. Representatives of several local historical and heritage organizations will give brief greetings. We will also recognize the Nov 2 birthday of Daniel Boone. Author Randell Jones will offer some brief historical remarks on events in the life of Daniel Boone which resonate with 250th anniversaries in 2017/2018 and another major event in May 2019. Boone started from his Wilkes County home for both of these adventures. 

This gathering at 11:00 a.m. will last no more than 20-30 minutes. Come prepared to stand or bring your own chair.  A heavy rain cancels.
